Upland Recording Studio

We are ready to record your project at UPLAND RECORDING STUDIO! Record in a relaxed atmosphere in the Catskill Mountains 2 hours north of New York City. Equipment includes: Baldwin 6'3" grand piano (made when Baldwin was in its prime!), three separate recording booths, high-end microphones, Pro Tools. Accommodations and Meals are a possibility for out-of-towners.

John Menegon (recording engineer) is a jazz bassist, composer, and arranger, who has worked and recorded with David Fathead Newman, Dewey Redman, Pat Metheny, Kenny Burrell, Jack DeJohnette, Yoron Israel, Teri Roiger, and many others. After recording at Rudy Val Gelder's Studio and many other studios in New York City, he decided to build his own recording studio, and for the past five years has been engineering many jazz recordings of duos, trios, on up to sextets. He is interested in capturing the essence of live music in a natural atmosphere in a relaxed setting. In addition to recording all types of music, we are a MultiMedia Production Studio. We also compose music & lyrics for film, radio, television. We record everything from great jazz CDs to jingles and voiceovers! The following classes and workshops are available: BASIC RECORDING TECHNIQUES using ProTools including hands on experience and microphone placement, VOCAL WORKSHOPS with an opportunity to record a demo/CD, Weekly JAZZ WORKSHOPS all levels welcome, Classes on the HISTORY OF JAZZ for all ages taught on a weekly basis. All the classes and workshops are taught by Teri Roiger and John Menegon. Teri & John have 12 years' teaching experience at SUNY New Paltz, NY (voted the Hottest State School by Newsweek Magazine in 2008) and Williams College (Williamstown, MA) (voted one of the five top private colleges in US News and World Report in 2008).
